The OntoDebug plugin has grown over a many years and many people were directly or indirectly involved in it's development.

One of the plugin's origin is the Exquisite - Exquisite Quality Suite which has been been implemented by the research group around Dietmar Jannach (TU Dortmund).

The second origin lies in the rmbd Project which was originally implemented as a plugin for Protégé 4 with the contribution of Philipp Fleiß, Patrick Rodler and Konstantin Schekotihin (Alpen-Adria Universtität Klagenfurt). A Protégé 5 compatible version of the rmdb Project is available at our public rmdb-protege5 repository.

The development of OntoDebug Plugin for Protégé 5 has been started in 2015 and was implemented by a team of the research group of Gerhard Friedrich at the Alpen-Adria Universtität Klagenfurt as part of the research project ID-GO which is funded by the Kärntner Wirtschaftsförderungsfonds (KWF). The project ID-GO ended in 2019, but the development of OntoDebug will be continued in order to constantly improve our plugin.
